Rosso Orcia DOC – “Quercialsale” Terre di Nano

The intriguing proximity of an oak and a willow near to Terre di Nano is described by the ancient name of “quercialsale”, recorded on the historical maps of the borgo of Monticchiello in the Val d’Orcia. The plans of Leonardo for the battle of Anghiari revive in one’s mind the strength and energy of this wine which is made solely from the Sangiovese grape. It is full of character and intensity, filling the palate with suggestions of fruit and vanilla. This is a wine that will age well.

Producer – Azienda agricola Terre di Nano.

Production area – Toscana, Monticchiello di Pienza (Siena), 450-500 m above sea level.

Type – dry red.

Classification – DOC – The denomination of origin is controlled.

Grape type – Sangiovese 100%.

Vinification – in stainless steel vats with a controlled temperature of 28°-30° during fermentation.

Ageing – in barriques of French and Slavonian oak for eighteen months, then in bottles for six months.

Quantity produced – max. 20.000 bottles (0.750 lt.).

Color – deep ruby red.

Aroma – intense, elegant with pleasant notes of dark red fruits and a touch of fresh herbs and vanilla.

Taste – smooth and full-bodied, with well integrated tannins which provide notable balance and duration; the intense aftertaste sensation is of rich vanilla and dark fruits.

Matching dishes – it is ideal with roasts and wild game, and it is an excellent accompaniment for cured meats and aged cheese.
